FAQ’s

What is a chiropractor?  +

A chiropractor is a primary health care professional specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders in the body’s vast framework of bones, joints and muscles, and the effects these disorders have on the function of the nervous systems, overall health and wellbeing.

What is chiropractic adjustment? +
An adjustment is when a chiropractor uses a carefully directed and controlled pressure in a precise direction to a joint that is not moving properly. This allows the spine to return to a normal mobile and flexible state.
What is a subluxation? +
A subluxation is when one or more of the bones in your spine become misaligned. They move out of position and put pressure on spinal nerves. When the nerves are irritated they can malfunction and interfere with the flow of information travelling between the central nervous system and the rest of the body. This causes pain, muscle spasms and has a negative effect on your general well being.
Is chiropractic treatment painful? +
No. When chiropractors perform adjustments, they take into account their patient’s comfort and condition. Sometimes adjustments for chronic problems or injuries may cause short-term discomfort around the problem area. However, it is widely agreed that the relief provided following an effective adjustment far outweighs any mild discomfort experienced.
Is treatment safe? +
Our team of chiropractors are all highly qualified and experienced and their treatment techniques are exceptionally safe. A number of studies suggest that chiropractic manipulative treatment is significantly safer than common alternatives, such as long term use of painkillers or surgery.
Can I help myself as well? +
Definitely. By carrying out rehabilitative exercises at home, alongside visiting us for treatments, you will return to health more quickly. We can advise you on what exercises will help to improve your condition.
What if I’m not in pain when I come in? +
Chiropractic isn’t a painkiller! Even if you’re feeling slightly better when you visit, repeated visits will help to maintain the health of your spine and nervous system, which in turn allows the body to function at its full potential.
How long until I feel better? +
Your age, overall health condition, muscle tone, diet and even attitude can affect the healing process. For some patients, chiropractic treatment provides instant relief. For others, the healing process can take months, maybe even years. Every patient is unique and so are their recovery times.
